Just after landing in a float plane on Saddle Lake.
Unloading our gear from the plane in deep water caused Amato’s
boot to fill up. The high peaks in the distance lie on the other side
of the Tlikakila
River. Saddle Lake is about 1500 feet above the
river level, and thus is within a “hanging valley” formed during the last glaciation.
